Making Your Own Wedding Invitations

Making your own wedding invitations can be fun and rewarding but also time consuming and depending on your skill level you may not get the result you want. It is best to consider your budget and the look you are trying to achieve before deciding to make your own. Good results are possible if you choose something simple.

Making your own can add that personal touch that you might not get with printed wedding invitations. Many craft shops will stock the supplies you need but try looking online as you might find yourself a bargain.

Once you have all your supplies set yourself some spare time to start making them. To ease boredom do them in batches and perhaps get some friends and family to help you out.

If you’re not creative but you have a friend who is, why not ask them to design your wedding stationery? You might even be able to persuade them to make it for you as a wedding present!

If you fancy designing them but not making them you might want to take your design to a small printing company. Prices will vary depending on the quantity, paper/card used, printing technique/s and inks. Ring around to get the best quote.

Some couples decide to make their own due to budget constraints, however, sometimes when weighing up the cost compared to time it makes more sense to buy them. Before deciding to make your own look at the costs involved for both printed stationery and homemade. Also consider the look you want. Some stationery styles could not be easily achieved if you were making them yourself.

As when buying wedding invitations always make a few extra to allow for forgotten guests and mistakes. Why not keep one for your self as momento? If you are feeling really crafty you could mount up copies of your wedding stationery and frame it. Maybe add some photos and other reminders of the day to make a personal keepsake that will last a lifetime.
