Wedding Invitations – When to Order to Make Sure You Get Them on Time
Knowing when to order your wedding invitations is very important. If you do not allow enough time then you won’t be able to get your wedding invites out in time. Causing problems with RSVP dates as guests may not be able to reply in time. This then causes problems with suppliers as you won’t know the exact number of guests. Also if your wedding date is during a popular holiday season then you will probably find that some of your guests will have already booked their vacation and therefore won’t be able to attend.
It is recommended that you send out your wedding invites between 2-3 months in advance. However, for guests coming from further a field or if your wedding is during a holiday season then send them earlier. Alternatively you can send save the date cards in advance of your wedding invites. These cards can be sent 1 to 2 years before your big day. And will give your guests plenty of notice.
Another thing to note is how long it will take to make the wedding invitations. Some handmade stationers can take 6 to 8 weeks, or even longer. Although most other stationers will usually take 2 to 3 weeks. Some stationers provide an express service and can have your invites to you within 3 days.
The time of year can also affect delivery times. Perhaps surprisingly a busy time is Christmas. This is not so much because of wedding stationery orders but because of Christmas cards orders. Most of the large wedding stationery printers also supply corporate and charity Christmas cards. On average an extra 2 weeks will be added to order times.
Proofing times can very depending on how busy they are. Most likely you will receive an initial proof within 2 to 5 days. However, if there are any changes then you will have to wait for another proof. It is always worth remembering this when estimating delivery times.
